Hemoglobin (Hb)

Hemoglobin is the pigment-protein complexes that contain iron. The complex is red and there in the erythrocytes. A hemoglobin molecule has four haeme groups containing ferrous iron and the four globin chains. There are several forms haaemoglobin: fetal type (HBF) and the two major forms of adult hemoglobin (HbA1 and HbA2). Hemoglobin carries oxygen, carbon dioxide and got some changes in pH.
Glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1) ---> HbA1 levels indicate blood sugar levels over a period of several months and can be used to assess the degree of control in diabetes mellitus.
Hb normal value for males was 13 g% - 18 g%, and for females is 11.5 g% - g 16.5% (Brooker, 2001).
Hemoglobin is a substance in red blood cells (erithrocyte) and responsibilities of each color, composed of haeme pigments (iron - containing porphyrin) associated with the protein globin. Hemoglobin has unique properties can be fused with oxygen and is a carrier of oxygen throughout the body. Hemoglobin carries oxygen in the bloodstream through the lungs and along with the blood to the tissues of the body. The blood usually contains 12-18 g / dl of hemoglobin.
Myohaemoglobin: iron - containing proteins, like hemoglobin, found in muscle cells. Such as hemoglobin that contains a collection of haeme. Bond containing oxygen, acting as a reservoir of oxygen in muscle fibers.
Oxyhaemoglobin: substance formed when red blood pigment hemoglobin in red blood cells reunited with oxygen. Oxyhaemoglobin is a form of oxygen that is transported from the lungs to the cells, where oxygen is released.
Methahaemoglobin: substance formed when atoms of iron from the blood pigment hemoglobin has oxidizes from ferrous to ferric form (compare oxyhaemoglobin). Methahaemoglobin which can not bind molecular oxygen and therefore can not be transporting oxygen throughout the body. Methahaemoglobin existence in the blood (methahaemoglobinaemia) oxide may be caused by ingestion of the drug substance or of inheritance abnormality of the hemoglobin molecule. Symptoms-symptoms include fatigue, headache, dizziness and cyanosis.
